Muscle Powered's Saturday Hike - Snowshoe Hike to the Clear Creek Connector Trail
Please join us for a 5-mile round-trip snowshoe trek in the Clear Creek watershed area just three miles west of Carson City! We will hike on the Clear Creek Connector Trail that intersects with the longer Clear Creek Trail. Both trails built by Carson Valley Trails Association.
Meet 8:00 am at Hwy 50 Park-and-ride just west of Hwy 50/US395 interchange. We will carpool three miles to the Golf Course Drive parking area near the trailhead. Dogs are not allowed on this hike.
We don't anticipate loss of snow at this elevation, but if that happens then we will carpool to Spooner Lake for a 5-mile roundtrip hike on North Canyon Rd. Estimated time of activity is 4 hours.
Required items include snowshoes, gloves/mittens, snacks, and 3 quarts of water. Recommended items include poles, extra socks, hats, and clothing layers rather than one large heavy coat. Also, avoid wearing cotton because it does not wick sweat away compared to synthetic materials. Be prepared for sun, wind, snow. The snowshoe leaders have a limited number of snowshoes and poles available to borrow. This is a 'first come first serve type situation'. If you wish to borrow a pair you MUST call Chelsea at (970) 889-0921 ahead of time.
